Lesson Objectives:

  • Explain the role of the heart and how it functions within the body
  • Model how the heart works through activities (pulse and flow throughout the body)
  • Give examples of what can happen if the heart doesn’t work and include information about transplant
  • Learn about the first heart transplant, who performed it, and where it took place

Kidney Matters

Excretory System. Discussing the kidneys, where they are located, and the function within the body. Includes information on the first auto kidney transplant, which took place in Mississippi.

Lesson Objectives:

  • Explain the role of the kidney as a filtering system for blood
  • Describe the by-products of the excretory system
  • Model the filtering function of a kidney

Respiratory System. Discussing the lungs, where they are located in the body and their function. Includes information on the first lung transplant, which took place in Mississippi.

  • Explain the role of the lungs and how they function in the body
